The Ring

Anyone ever watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s?

I did.

A LOT…over and over again.

Holly would get dressed up in her little black dress and pearls, grab coffee and a croissant, hail a cab and walk around Tiffany and Co. before it opened in the mornings.

I did something similar.

On Sundays, I would get dressed up and go to Tiffany’s in Downtown Portland. I would look and dream. I would look over the many different styles but I always wanted the same one, it did not matter how many new styles they could come up with or how fancy they were…which is surprising, because I usually like things to be way too big and way overdone (at least that’s how other people see it, to me, it’s just perfect).

I would sit and stare at the world famous iconic Tiffany setting ring. I loved how a one carat diamond looked so beautifully reflective in its high setting and how if you bent down you could see through the six prongs underneath it. And the prongs! All six of them. Most of these round cut rings have only four and I was so in love with the 6. So delicate and feminine.

In all of its glory:

Somewhere along the line, I cannot really tell you when. My taste changed ever so slightly. I still wanted the simplicity of a solitaire but I fell in love with the emerald cut. I told Ian that I decided I still wanted the solitaire without anything else on the band, but that I did not want it round anymore. I felt that it was more unique to me this way, fitting my personality and style better.

I wanted a 1 carat high setting, emerald cut ring.

He went and designed it himself :)))

Let me know what is your favorite style of ring is! Did your style change or stay the same?

Xoxo
