One of my Favorite Photos I’ve Ever Captured

There’s certain pictures that you take that will always hold a special place in your heart. It doesn’t matter if no one else in the world thought it was worth anything, but to you, it’s everything. That’s this shot for me. When I saw it in camera, I knew it was going to look incredible on the wall. The lighting was heavenly that day and I patted my camera with glee that she was able to capture something so real, tangible and magnificent…Even the emotions on their faces.

My grandfather is speaking to my brother and sister, it’s an important moment in their lives, and my grandmother looks up at him, knowingly. She’s beside him, like she’s been their whole life, but slightly behind, letting him take the lead. It’s funny how a simple frame can speak decades.

I’ve had the opportunity to be very close to my grandparents. I lived across the street and down the lane from their farm. I would run over as soon as my mom would allow and spend as much time as I could soak up with them…I wish I had pictures from then. Hours in the garden. Evenings in the wide open pasture (much like MT’s forever fields in the Spring), alive with green.

The best time of year? When the lambs were frolicking on the wet, dewy grasses. Then in the colder months, we would come inside and warm by the blazing fire and in the warmer months we’d sit outside and listen to all the cheerful familiar sounds. Hands down, best days of my life. But I didn’t know it then.

The thing I know now is, I can cherish them in memory and capture the new memories as they come because I won’t know when I’m in the best days until they’ve gone, all we’re left with is the picture in our minds ?
